I was given a piano in August of 2007 which was quite beautiful. I had a tuner come to the house and he said he couldn't tune it at all and it needed thousands of dollars of repair. Then, in August of 2008, my mom brought my grandmother's piano from TN to my house in VA. Memommy passed away last Christmas and I was to get her piano! For 2-3 months, we had two pianos in our living room. So, I tried to sell the first one on eBay, Craigslist, and/or give it away on Freecycle. I got a few replies but they were the kind that you keep hearing about that turn out to be scams. I was talking about this piano at work and a couple of guys thought it would be fun to smash a piano to smithereens. Well, it became my last option so I called up Aaron Liberty, Matt Buhyoff, Hector Picart, and Ken Hogan one night in October. We briefly thought about lighting it on fire but then thought that could get out of hand real quick-like. Thankfully, they brought some sledgehammers, crowbars, some crazy heavy duty looking claw thing, and a Sawsall. I think they had a lot of fun. Then, Ken called one of his friends who is an artist and was able to get rid of the heaviest part of the piano - the stringboard. It really was pretty so I'm sure the final work will look amazing. I pretty much just took pictures. I didn't want to get in the way. I had fun watching, though. I do recall lots of Tim Allen-like grunts from Home Improvement going on.
Just getting the piano out on the porch was quite a chore. Hector takes a break and plays a little song.
